Kristin Lucas

POSTMASTERS GALLERY MARCH 31 - MAY 05

Kristin Lucas has been showing up in group exhibitions regularly for the last few years, but this is her first solo show in New York. In the back gallery, she presents Involuntary Reception, a two-channel video featuring ła young woman˛ (Lucas herself) whose mind is overrun with electromagnetic activity. The front gallery includes a table of drawings made with an inked-up computer mouse and a pack of kinetic sculptures on leashes‹mossy green humps on wheels, embedded with pop detritus like aluminum soda cans and home electronics. Lucas's technocentric work is still evolving (for recent Web-based work, see her Dia Center for the Arts project, Between a Rock and a Hard Drive (www.diacenter.org/lucas), but this is a commendable debut.
